Fun at the farm..

On Saturday we went to Nash Farm...

It was AWESOME.. There were tons of things to do. I got a picture of just a few.

This is Lukas making his own rope. It was really very cool. There were 4 strings and a thing that twisted them up and then Luke guided this cross down the ropes to make a big rope.. very cool

No spring event is complete with out sack races..
Learning how bee's made honey. eeeewwww

Making and playing with farm toys. You spin this in your hands and it flies.

Walking on stilts..

And of course the obligatory farm animals.

The boys also did leather work and milked goats and made pinwheels and weaved on a weaving machine and planted a garden and went on a trailer ride and watched the blacksmith and ... It was very cool!!!

Spring!!!

The Sun is shining!!

The rain has stopped and the bluebonnets are in full bloom!!!

There is a place here where the bluebonnets are knee deep and go up the side of the mountain.
There are bluebonnets as far as you cn see.

This is one of our hiking spots so the boys know where the paths are. I just can't believe how many bluebonnets there are!!

minus two.. opps...

Happy Spring!!!

Sharka Sharka Shakarosa

What do we LOVE about homeschooling??

Spending the day at Sharkarosa!! We think Sharkarosa is one of the coolest places ever.

You can take a safari Tram to look and touch all kinds of animals.Horses, Zebra's, Warthogs, deer and CAMELS!!

There were lots of talks today about the different animals. Lots of up close time..

On homeschool day, Sharkarosa invites all sorts of special guest. There was 3 tables of different types of skulls. Luke loved that. He is all about bones.
Critterman ( one of our favorites) was there. He had a great spill. He had tarantula's and snakes and possums ( yuck and grrrr) and Alligators.. The boys got to feel the alligator..
TOO COOL!!

Another talk that we listened to was the marsupial talk. ( kangaroo's) They had 3 baby kangaroos jumping around and told all about them.. Then asked for question and answer.. Normal questions.. How tall are they.. how far can they jump that kinda thing..
Luke's question.. Why does that one way in the back have only one arm?
So she tell him about how that Kangaroo was born that way b/c his mommy got in a fight when he was in her pouch and how he had to learn how to balance and things with only one arm.
**keep with me this is important especially when you have a kid with physical issues.*

Anyways, so that kangaroo is now the strongest and fastest out of all the kangaroos they have there. Yeah!! great take home for the kid that can't run :)
They also had ring tail lemurs but none with a good pic of Lukas and since this is a mommy blog...The kids also got to touch a baby black bear. Yep no pictures of that one either.
But .. the original question was
Why do we LOVE homeschooling......

Our Buddies!!

Boys and Trucks
Trucks and Boys
They are one and the same
at least at my house
so when Monster Jam came to town...
We Were sooo there!!!
I went to Ft. worth with a friend the week before and while we were there we drove to scary scary world to pick up pit passes... so worth it..
We got on the dirt and up close and personal with the trucks.
My boys favorite truck is Monster Mutt.. They think he is super cool.. I think its because his tongue goes in and out and his ears flap in the wind when he drives ( he is pretty stinking cute .. for a monster truck)
Being MY boys.. they HAD to get an autograph from the driver.. so they got super cute hats and had monster mutt sign them.

and of course the day would not be complete without grave digger.. Not crazy about this one but apparently its a big deal..

The show was very good .. I never thought I would actually like a monster truck show but..
Every car wrecked which of course is what the fans wanted.
During intermission they had a four wheel race.. and then a dirt bike stunt show.. Landry was in heaven .. not sure this helped me in trying to change his mind about being a professional dirt bike rider.

May all your dreams be as big as monster trucks...

Burb mom and Chevy take us to NASCAR!!!

Thank you!!! Thank you !! Thank you!!!
Chevy and Burb mom!!

On Sunday, Chevy and Burbmom took us to NASCAR!!
I can't tell you how excited my kids were.

*insert screaming*
*insert jumping up and down*

and the kids were very excited too!!
The people at Chevy could not have been nicer!!!
They were great with the boys.

They played a game where you put all these tetris blocks in the back of one of their midsize SUVS. I was shocked at the room it had in the back.
Chevy had their drivers come out and do a little spill before the race. They gave this big speech about how they were not going to sign autographs.

Landry's second favorite driver is Jimmy Johnson. Well, he came out and talked and Landry wiggled his way to the front and then this happened...

Yep, that's Landry getting an autograph.
Then, because no one under 18 is allowed in the pits the boys and I tool off to explore while my dad and hubby went to the pits
They were so EXCITED!
But nothing prepared them for the excitement of....

"Gentlemen Start your Engine's!!"
This is the look I saw when I looked over at Luke..

It seemed like a good idea at the time...

So a friend calls Wednesday morning and want to know our afternoon plans..
Not much really..
Well , There is anew "skate" park that just opened up and its outside, free and the boys can bring bikes, scooter, or skateboards.
Great!! This has 3 of my favorite things..

Outside.. New.. and FREE!!!!

We are soo in! I'll be at your house a little after 3:00

Great I will make a fresh batch of pumpkin cookies.
I will bring a cooler with drinks and my NEW fancy camera these will be great action shots!
So we are suburban moms in our suburban of toys with our 3 boys, one of which is in a private school uniform. Headed to the skate park!
So we get to the skate park and my friend and I look at each other. Wow! There are a lot of people here. Oh well, come on it will be ok..
So, We find our parking spot right by the front and start unloading..

3 bikes.. check
2 skateboards .. check
2 scooters.. check..
one cooler of drinks. .. check..
Cookies.. check
New Big fancy camera.. check
So we wag all our stuff into the park..
The boys head off to have a good time..

Then we look around.. (cue scary music)

We are the only ones there with kids..
Everyone is in their late teens or early 20's.
Why aren't these people in school??

Why aren't they at their job??

Oh well, It will be fine..
Ok So we are the ONLY females there.
Uhmmm ...
Then a guy falls in front of us and lets out a stream of curse words you wouldn't hear on HBO.
( well there's bound to be one)

Then I notice there's a group smoking..
Then Another guy and some not so nice words.
Then Landry comes over and says" hey, that guy over there introduced himself to me.."

Ok that's it we are outta here!!!

Looking back I bet we were very funny. Pulling up in our suburban with our kids .. and our little cooler and home made cookies and my cross t shirt and hat. Not exactly skate park material.
Oh well .. no permanent damage done

We actually used it as a teachable moment in that this is not what God wants for his children. Playing and having fun and being outside good..smoking .. cusing.. and being 20 and hanging out there ..not good..

We also went back thru the Don't talk to strangers, don't take anything from a stranger.. blah blah blah..
They did have fun for the 10 minutes we were there. Maybe a 8:30 in the morning would be a good time to go. It's a neat concept OR someone with some $$ needs to make a skate park for ages 14 and under..
